OVERVIEW of Ritz Carlton Central Park
The Ritz Carlton Central Park is a magnificent hotel ideally located on Central Park West, overlooking the Park. The service is impeccable, the rooms beautiful and the views of the Park are just spectacular. We first saw this hotel in the Fall with the leaves changing in the Park and then again on a night in the midst of a major snow storm. The next day with the sun shining on the newly fallen snow was magical.
The lobby/lounge area is a gorgeous room with high ceilings, polished wood paneled walls, comfortable seating areas and magnificent artwork. A grand piano provides background music for both the lounge and the sleek adjoining bar.
THE ROOMS at Ritz Carlton Central Park
The room (450 sq. feet) itself was decorated in contemporary furniture; an armoire, end tables and side tables and a comfortable easy chair. The colors are whites and tans. The walls are raised panels with a subtle, striped fabric wallpaper inlaid between the panels. Draperies frame the windows, brass floor and table lamps provide soft lighting. Mirrors are trimmed in dark wood, carpeting is thick and soft. There’s a telescope for viewing the park, the bathrooms are all marble and there are fresh orchids in a vase. 300 count Frette linens make the soft and plush feather bed the kind you never want to leave.
As my friend says, it’s all in the details, and the Ritz just gets it. The closets are as big as some hotel rooms, the bathrooms have thick. soft bathrobes and towels and Asprey toiletries. The tub even has a tray to hold a book while you’re soaking. Even the mini-bar is upscale with Opus One on the menu.
DINING at Ritz Carlton Central Park
Contour is an all-day gastro lounge featuring small plates whose ingredients are locally sourced and an upscale cocktail menu.
THE SPA at Ritz Carlton Central Park
La Prairie Spa is legendary in New York is an oasis of luxury unto itself, providing the full range of spa services. There is a full service exercise facility with steam and sauna.
THE SERVICE at Ritz Carlton Central Park
From the doormen to the front desk to the housekeepers, everyone is pleasant, friendly and helpful, you will want for nothing. On one visit during a blizzard we couldn’t get a cab to dinner and the bellman called a friend who drove us to dinner.
Sadly the hotel charges for WiFi ($14.95 per day), ridiculous at these rates.
THE RATES at Ritz Carlton Central Park
