Inn at Bowman’s Hill

OVERVIEW of Inn at Bowman’s Hill

You are just a short distance from New Hope as you drive down a narrow country lane looking for the Inn at Bowman Hill, a luxury B&B that sets a standard for accommodations in Bucks County. Suddenly the woods give way to a magnificent stone Colonial set on 5 beautifully manicured acres behind a tall iron fence. The setting is so idyllic that your pulse quickens in anticipation of what is to come.

Purchased initially as a private residence, Lynn and Michael Amery began to painstakingly restore the building and grounds. Somewhere along the way, they decided to use their travel experience to create an inn with the kinds of amenities they enjoyed when traveling. The result is a country house so warm and inviting that you’ll find it hard to leave.

THE ROOMS at Inn at Bowman’s Hill

There are 4 rooms and 4 suites, but they are large and magnificently decorated in soothing shades of peach, green, blue and beige. Hardwood floors are covered with beautiful area rugs and king size feather beds are adorned with down pillows and blankets and luxurious bed linens. Windows and French doors are surrounded by custom draperies and recessed lighting casts a soft romantic glow over the room. Fresh flowers add a delightful personal touch. All rooms have gas fireplaces, LCD televisions, DVD players, wireless Internet access and Bose radio/CD players. Italian tile bathrooms feature two person whirlpool tubs, glass showers, heated towel racks, Egyptian cotton towels, bathrobes and Gilchrist and Soames toiletries.

I particularly like the Pond Vista and Orchard Retreat rooms. Both have great views of the pond and forest and private verandas.

DINING at Inn at Bowman’s Hill

Not too many B&B’s can claim someone trained at the spectacular Inn at Little Washington and current chef at the acclaimed Evermay on the Delaware as a culinary consultant. The result, produced by owner Michael Ammery is a truly memorable breakfast served in your room, in the dining room or on the terrace overlooking the pool. Freshly squeezed juices, fresh fruit and home baked breads and muffins start you off and the signature breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, mushrooms, baked beans, sauteed potatoes and fried bread will fill you up for the day.

You can enjoy afternoon tea and sandwiches on the outdoor Vine Terrace, the indoor Conservatory or on the Manor Terrace overlooking the pool. All great spots to curl up with a book and a glass of wine. A stone patio surrounds a free form pool, set on a bluff overlookingthe gardens and a gazebo on the lawn, the perfect place to while away a summer day.

Among some delightful places to stay in the area, this wonderful inn has raised the bar….
