Faraway, Sag Harbor

OVERVIEW of Faraway Sag Harbor

Baron’s Cove was built in the 1950’s as the first resort development in Sag Harbor. It quickly became a hub for the creative community and enjoyed visits from a diverse group of celebrities and artists like John and Elaine Steinbeck, Paul Newman, Art Garfunkel, Richard Kind, Jackson Pollock, Willem and Elaine de Kooning, Truman Capote, George Plimpton, and Kurt Vonnegut and more.

By the end of the 20th century, the hotel had fallen into disrepair and its future unsure. It was was finally purchased by Cape Resorts, a management company with a primary focus in Cape May, New Jersey. After a two year top to bottom renovation, the property re-opened to the public in 2015.

Recently the hotel was purchased by the Faraway brand known for its chic design, excellent restaurants and fantastic service. Faraway has outposts in Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard and Jackson Hole. The property is absolutely charming and comfortable, just blocks from the center of town with a new pool area, elegant guest rooms, custom interiors and a wonderful bar and restaurant.
