Harrison’s Restaurant & Bar

Kathy Kneale and her son Andrew Kneale opened Harrison’s Restaurant in December of 2003. Their goal was to create a restaurant that was a reflection of each of their lives growing up and working in Stowe, they wanted a place where locals and visitors alike could enjoy comfortable, creative and affordable food in an environment that was casual yet upscale and unique to Stowe. That goal has been accomplished in a wonderfully cozy restaurant on the bottom level of a historic building on Main Street.

Wood beamed ceilings and posts, cozy booths, banquettes with plaid cushions and a wood burning fireplace create an intimate setting that is both comfortable and elegantly rustic.

The menu is upscale comfort with excellent preparation and presentation. Some menu highlights; Four Two Sons Bakehouse Parker House Rolls, salted maple butter; Crab Cakes, panko encrusted pan seared crab cakes, cajun remoulade, diced tomato, scallions, lemon; Bayley Blue & Pear mixed field greens, sliced pear. julienne carrots, cucumber, grapes, spiced almonds, Jasper Hill Farm Bayley Hazen Blue cheese, apple tahini vinaigrette; Grilled Lamb Rackmaple, mint and whole grain mustard marinated rack of lamb, green bean almondine, crispy polenta, hot honey glaze; Pork Medallions, rosemary skewered pan roasted pork tenderlion madeallions, roasted swet potato, green beans, warm bacon balsamic vinaigrette; for dessert have the Frozen Mocha Cheesecake, Oreo cookie crust, fresh whipped cream and chocolate syrup.

A surprisingly good wine list constructed by someone who knows wine. Excellent selection of wines by the glass and the full list has some heavy hitters, but plenty of choices under $100.

ROMANTIC QUOTIENT

Cozy booths, a roaring fire…doesn’t get much better.

WHAT OTHERS SAY…

“A family affair… it’s cute and cozy, with lots of wood paneling, twinkly lights, and a porch for fine-weather (and non-cellar) dining. And every forkful is downright scrumptious.” Frommer’s
