Say what you want about Donald Trump, the man knows how to do a hotel right and the Chicago incarnation is no exception. Located in the Loop beside the Chicago River, the soaring 92 story Trump is a bold design against the Chicago skyline. The views from the signature floor to ceiling windows are nothing short of spectacular….down the river to Lake Michigan with a Navy Pier backdrop. Few things evoke a “wow” as much as a dramatic view and Trump understands this better than anyone, whether it is here, Central Park, the Vegas Strip or Waikiki Beach.

THE ROOMS at Trump International Hotel

The spacious room, some 600 square feet, was decorated in tranquil grays and taupes with a comfortable sitting area looking out over the city. As day turned into night, the view became even more majestic. A huge king bed, draped in luxury linens and lots of pillows (there’s a pillow menu as well) centered the room and each room is equipped with a state of the art kitchen areaRebar is a cool and sophisticated and sexy lounge with a great vibe at night. Wonderfully creative drinks, sangria and sushi. Amazing views. Clean out the ATM….it’s not cheap, but worth the fun. with top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances and wooden cabinetry. Oversized limestone baths offer deep-soaking tubs and state-of-the-art showers, custom vanities with a TV screen built into the bathroom mirror. Housekeepers are even equipped with embossers to imprint the Trump logo onto the toilet paper….now that’s a first for us!

DINING at Trump International Hotel

Terrace 16 is the hotel’s signature restaurant serving all meals. The eclectic menu is served in a breathtaking dining room with terrific views of the river, the lake and the Wrigley Tower through 30 foot floor to ceiling windows. In the summer months there is a 200 seat outdoor terrace. Zagat says, “A voyeur’s view of the city distinguishes Trump International Hotel & Tower’s stunning River Norther, where 30-ft. floor-to-ceiling windows and a striking Swarovski-crystal chandelier are a backdrop for delicious New American fare that’s creative but not gimmicky; polite, professional service and a deep wine list complete an over-the-top package…”

THE SERVICE at Trump International Hotel

We arrived by taxi and were quickly ushered to reception where we were offered a hot face towel and a bottled water (two temperature choices!). A pleasant staff member, who clearly enjoyed his job, escorted us to our room and pointed out all the amenities.

THE SPA at Trump International Hotel

The acclaimed 23,000 square foot spa has 53 treatment rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness facility with probably the best views of any health club and a 75 foot indoor pool. There’s steam and sauna, whirlpools and a complete menu of spa and salon treatments. Surprisingly, the 60 minute treatments are reasonably priced for a high end urban hotel.
