Royal Blues Hotel, Deerfield Beach FL

OVERVIEW of Royal Blues Hotel

We are always so impressed when a new hotel or restaurant opens and it is clear that the owners have put a lot of thought into their new venture. Such is the case of the Royal Blues Hotel in Deerfield Beach Florida, a stunning 12 room boutique hotel conceived by Hollywood producer Edward Walson. It is the only hotel in Florida that is part of the acclaimed Relais & Chateau group.

The location couldn’t be more perfect in a quaint and charming little town whose oceanfront is uncluttered by t-shirt shops and beach bars. Deerfield Beach is an award-winning city earning the “Blue Wave” distinction in beach excellence from the National Clean Beach Council, which bases its award on excellent water quality, beach conditions, safety services, public information, and habitat conservation.

THE ROOMS at Royal Blues Hotel

The rooms all face the ocean and are generous in size and amenities. Each features a large balcony, floor to ceiling patio doors and digital touch screens to open and close the drapes, set the thermostat and operate the shower. The Kohler Numi toilet has a control panel  that raises and lowers the seat, provides welcome music, a heated seat, Bluetooth, eco-flush and offers the benefits of an automated bidet. Decorated as one might expect of a private yacht, walls are paneled in teak, draws and closets have leather facing and floors are made of marble. Bathrooms have regular and rain forest showers, digital temperature control and Red Flower toiletries.  Plush platform beds are dressed in Frette linens.

DINING at Royal Blues Hotel

The hotel’s signature restaurant, Chanson, has a European-inspired menu that makes great use of  market-fresh ingredients and is served in an elegant dining room with views of the ocean, a large fish tank and cascading waterfalls outside. We started with a cold celery rout soup with Gulf shrimp, green apple sorbet and bacon. Next up was a wonderful butternut squash ravioli with chestnut crumble aged Parmesan and sage. The entree was a spectacular “duo” of braised short rib and beef tenderloin with root vegetables. Popping dark chocolate and stone fruits ended a quite delicious meal.

The regular wine list is a wonderful collection of boutique wines from around the world and is the recipient of the Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence.

The hotel presents a number of events to engage both hotel guests and locals. The Harvest Series is a collection of wine tastings and dinners held throughout the Fall and Fridays are Ladies Clicquot Night.

THE SERVICE at Royal Blues Hotel

As would be expected of a Relais & Chateau the service is extraordinary from the welcome cocktail offered at check-in to the pleasant staff to the helpful concierge, the guest wants for nothing.
