Peninsula Hotel

OVERVIEW of the Peninsula Hotel

Since 1928 Peninsula Hong Kong has set the world standard for exceptional service, style and comfort. In 2001 Peninsula Chicago opened and quickly reached the pinnacle of American hotels. It is consistently rated one of the top three or four hotels in the country.

Hotel entry is at street level where you are whisked in an elevator to reception and greeted by name as you arrive at the desk. Check-in is swift and efficient and a staffer accompanies you to your room to review all its amenities. The reception and lobby area are anchored by the dramatic Lobby restaurant which serves all meals. Just off the lobby is the dark and intimate “The Bar”

DINING the Peninsula Hotel

With Shanghai Terrace, The Lobby and Pierrot Gourmet, The Peninsula has, arguably, the best hotel dining in the City. The Lobby would be a top Chicago restaurants on  its own.  The Lobby features a contemporary American menu in a dramatic room with 20 foot windows and on Sunday has the most magnificent brunch I have ever seen, Shanghai Terrace offers Shanghainese and Catonese food in a 1930’s supper club decor and Pierrot Gourmet is a European style street level cafe known for its baked goods and sandwiches.

About The Lobby Zagat says, “for a wonderfully civilized splurge, raters recommend this River North Euro seafood specialist in an amazing Peninsula Hotel space that’s well lit with 20-ft. floor-to-ceiling windows; genteel service and discreet celebrity-watching are in the mix, and while early eaters say breakfasts are the thing to come for and the Sunday brunch will please everyone, celebrants suggest for a special occasion, it’s the best tea in town.

The Bar is a dark, sexy lounge with a warming fireplace that is a favorite of locals and in the nicer weather, The Terrace serves cocktails and small plates in a very cool outdoor setting overlooking the City when the season permits.

THE SPA at the Peninsula Hotel

The Peninsula Spa by ESPA is considered by many to be among the top 5 urban spas in the country. Located at the top of the hotel with spectacular views, the serene space offers a relaxation room with a fireplace, treatment rooms, a eucalyptus steam room, Jacuzzi, sundeck and an indoor pool. I don’t know if our age-defying facial made us look any younger, but it sure felt good and the overall feeling of tranquility was a wonderful end to a busy afternoon.

Truly a remarkable property worthy of any weekend consideration.
