Ocean Key Resort

OVERVIEW of the Ocean Key Resort

If location is everything, then the Ocean Key Resort has it all. Situated at the end of bustling Duval Street and right on the Gulf, the Resort stands next to Mallory Square the site of the nightly sundown festival.

THE ROOMS at the Ocean Key Resort

The 100 rooms are decorated in vibrant island colors and look out on historic downtown Key West or out into the Gulf of Mexico. Each has a private balcony plump beds with luxurious linens and 42″ plasma TV. The large marble bathroom has a separate glass shower, a jetted or whirlpool tub, nice thick towels and uses Spa Terre toiletries. The Junior Suites are 600 square feet with a sitting area and cost not much more than the basic room. Worth the money for the extra space.

The outdoor, heated pool is perched above the harbor looking out to the Gulf and has an outdoor bar, serves lunch and has some very cool cabanas. Inside Spa Terre offers an array of treatments sure to relax anyone from the downtown party scene and a fitness center to work off all the food and drink you are enjoying. Right next to the hotel is a kiosk where you can rent jet skis and kayaks, sign up for sunset cruises, arrange a fishing charter or sign up for a parasailing ride.

DINING at the Ocean Key Resort

Sunset Pier is a great place for lunch (they feature delicious Cole’s Peace Artisan Bakery breads) or for a drink, especially at sunset. When the weather is hot they blow a soft mist over the air to keep you cool. Hot Tin Roof is the signature restaurant, a 40 seat delight overlooking the harbor and featuring “conch-fusion cuisine,” a mélange of tastes and fragrances, combining traditional Florida foods with Latin, Caribbean and tropical influences. Zagat says, “The roof is not the only thing that’s hot at the Ocean Key Resort’s upscale eatery whose great location overlooking the water provides amazing sunset views; with Caribbean-Eclectic fare that’s expensive but excellent and a staff that really cares if it’s doing a good job, the result is a wonderful dining experience.”
