OVERVIEW of Gurney’s Star Island
Gurney’s Star Island has been around for quite some time, (80+ years to be exact) and its distinctive lighthouse is familiar to many. An extensive 2009 renovation refreshed the property and it is now an even better destination, ideal for couples or families. The Yacht Club is the setting for numerous fashion and celebrity photo shoots.
The hotel was purchased in 2017 by the Gurney’s Hotel Group.
Montauk has a personality all its own, separate from the hectic Hamptons and the wine culture of the North Fork. It is a laid-back beach town, similar to what you might find at The Jersey Shore or on the Cape. The beaches are spectacular, the fishing world class, there are wonderful restaurants and the town has a unique charm. You can easily stay here and not have to travel anywhere else in the Hamptons to enjoy yourself.
The Yacht Club sits on 35 waterfront acres and offers 107 guestrooms and 23 Villa cottages. The marina has space for 232 boats and can accommodate anything from a Boston Whaler up to a mega-yacht. There is a full service spa and salon, a fitness center, a private beach, three swimming pools and Har-tru lighted tennis courts. For the kids there’s a playground, a surf camp, volleyball, horseshoes and bocce ball and complimentary paddleboats, kayaks and bicycles. During the season there are a host of planned daily activities for the children as well. Fishing, horseback riding and golf can be arranged locally.
