OVERVIEW of the Ballastone Inn
The wonderfully restored 1838 Ballastone Inn is the choice of accommodations for virtually every visiting celebrity; Paul Newman and JoAnne Woodward, Kevin Spacey, Matt Damon and more. The Inn’s walls are filled with accolades from its noted visitors and from the travel press. This is truly a very special place to stay when in Savannah.
Located just a few blocks from the center of town, the public rooms of this Inn are just magnificent, filled with antiques and antique reproductions.
THE ROOMS at the Ballastone Inn
You arrive to a room where your comfort has been thoughtfully anticipated.; fresh flowers and fruit, ice and bottled water, plush robes, oversize towels, featherbeds and luxury linens, a wonderful shower, reading material, Gilchrist & Soames toiletries, fireplaces (most rooms) and Jacuzzis.
My room, Sorgum Cane, was a large corner room facing the garden courtyard. An area rug covered hardwood floors, local art adorned the walls and there was a club chair and ottoman next to the fireplace. My High Boy 4 poster king bed was so luxurious, it enveloped me when I laid down in it. An antique armoire and dresser completed the elegant décor.
There are 12 other rooms and three suites in the Inn and all are lavishly decorated. Scarborough Fair and Mulberry Tulips are my favorite other rooms and the Gazebo Suite my choice of the three suites.
This is one of those places where each room evokes a “wow,” just the kind of thing we look for everywhere we go. Don’t miss this wonderful Inn.

WHAT OTHERS SAY About the Ballastone Inn
AAA Four Diamond
“Savannah’s historic district is blessed by this Southern “charmer”, a “stately” antebellum inn housed in a restored four story 1838 Victorian mansion; it emits a truly “gracious” air, from the “delightful” staff to the “fantastic” hardwood furnishings and canopy beds in all the individually decorated Victorian rooms to the “lovely” courtyard that’s a “perfect spot for breakfast”; guests also appreciate “fabulous” nearby shopping.” ZAGAT
