OVERVIEW of the Mansion on Forsyth

Opulent, over the top, hip and trendy are all apt descriptions of the Mansion of Forsyth. Built in a magnificently renovated 1888 Victorian mansion, the 126 room MFP is located right on beautiful Forsyth Park in the heart of Savannah.

Throughout the hotel, the hallways (with red ceilings and curtains) are filled with some 400 illuminated pieces of rare, mostly modern art, so striking as to be breathtaking. The stunning marble lobby is illuminated with crystal chandeliers and decorated in tones of blue and gold with gold trimmed mirrors and hardwood floors topped with Oriental rugs. Just beyond the lobby, through French doors is a courtyard used for private functions and behind it a small, but delightful pool and lounging deck.

The Bosendorfer Lounge has a beautiful bar illuminated from beneath the bar top and is a favorite place for cocktail hour and piano music. Casimir’s Lounge atop the restaurant is a favorite after dinner, offering live jazz and blues and a rooftop terrace overlooking the Park.

THE ROOMS at the Mansion on Forsyth

Our room, with a wonderful view of the Park was a good size and decorated with gray walls and carpeting, white bedding and red accents; curtains, faux leather chair cushions and a red faux mink throw on the bed. There was a crystal chandelier over the reading chair, a candelabra lamp on the desk and crystal sconces in the bathroom. The bed was a plump pillowtop and covered with a down comforter and pillows….lots of them. In the center of the room, almost next to the bed, was a huge soaking tub surrounded by flowing curtains. Eclectic to be sure, but somehow it all works.

THE SERVICE at the Mansion on Forsyth

Upon arrival to the front courtyard, our car was instantly met by a bellman who took our luggage and car and escorted us quickly to the front desk. A reservation mistake (my fault) resulted in there being no room for us and the hotel was fully booked. The front desk went out of their way to find us other accommodations and then thankfully there was a last minute cancellation and we had our room.

Pets are welcome, and WIFI is complimentary.
