Waldorf Astoria

OVERVIEW of Waldorf Astoria

Located within the bustling City Center, right on the Strip, the Waldorf Astoria (formally the Mandarin Oriental) is close to all the major attractions and casinos, but thankfully does not have one itself. Guests arrive on the ground floor and are whisked to reception on the 23rd floor which is also home to the restaurants, Twist and the Sky Bar. Views of the Strip from the bar and restaurants is quite spectacular.

THE ROOMS at Waldorf Astoria

There are 392 guestrooms and suites with guest rooms ranging in size from 500-600 square feet, huge by most standards. All rooms have plump beds with plush linens and loads of down pillows, a 42” flat screen TV and a flat screen in every bathroom mirror. Floor to ceiling windows provide terrific views of the city. Black, beige, gold and burgundy make up the color palette for the room’s décor. Contemporary furniture and artwork complete a sophisticated but comfortable look. A convenient technology device allows you to control everything from lighting to television to temperature with the flick of a button. Large marble baths have thick towels, luxury amenities, walk-in rain showers and deep soaking tubs.

DINING at Waldorf Astoria

All day dining is available in Zen Kitchen which features the usual breakfast items with some Asian influenced specialties and sushi, Indian and Thai dishes.

Signature fine-dining restaurant is Twist by Pierre Gagnaire, renowned Paris chef , in his first U.S. foray. The elegant dining room was designed by Adam Tihany and provides views of the Las Vegas skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows.

Sky Bar is on the 23rd floor with amazing views of the skyline, Tea Lounge, offers a menu of teas and High Tea rituals and the Pool Café serves lunch, snacks and drinks when the pool is open.

THE SERVICE at Waldorf Astoria

The staff have a unique way of creating a sense of well-being when you are in their hotels. Here, you are greeted curbside with bellmen dressed in top hats and white gloves, your bags taken care of and your arrival radioed to the reception desk upstairs. At reception you are greeted by name, offered a hot towel and a cup of tea. Someone escorts you to your room and explains all the amenities. There is even a valet closet in your room, which allows deliveries from the hallway, so that you are undisturbed.

Star chef Pierre Gagnaire’s first U.S. foray – “tucked away” in the Mandarin Oriental – continues to impress with “outstanding” service, “glorious” Strip views and a “sleek”, Adam Tihany–designed space that does justice to the “ethereal” Franco-American cuisine in which “unlikely food combinations make the merriest of marriages”; yes, it’s seriously “expensive”, but fat-walleted fans declare it “nothing short of sensational in every respect.” ZAGAT
