OVERVIEW of Montage Palmetto Bluff
Nestled beside the May River, the Inn at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, SC is a spectacular resort just 15 minutes from downtown Savannah. Built on a 20,000 acre parcel, the Inn is part of a complex that includes residential homes, a delightful Village reminiscent of a New England town and a host of recreational opportunities.
THE ROOMS at Montage Palmetto Bluff
There are four basic types of accommodations here; guest rooms, cottages, cottage suites and village homes. The cottage is the basic unit, the suites add a separate living room and and the village homes are offered in 2, 3 and 4 bedroom units with full kitchens, dining rooms and living rooms. Seldom will you find more spacious and well-appointed quarters. Vaulted ceilings make the huge 1,140 sq. foot cottages seem even bigger. Soft beige walls and sparkling white wood trim are countered with dark pine floors covered in rich area rugs and dark mahogany furniture. Colorful Low Country artwork and antique reproduction mirrors grace the walls. Luxury linens top the 4 poster bed from which you can watch a Plasma TV. There is a fireplace for cool nights and a wonderful screened in porch overlooking the water, perfect for enjoying breakfast or an end-of-day cocktail from the wet bar which also has a Sub Zero refrigerator. The large marble bathroom has a separate steam shower (this is luxury!), a deep soaking tub and custom bath products.
The cottage suites are @ 1,340 square feet and have everything the cottage has plus a separate living room with couches and reading chairs. Village homes are magnificently decorated and equipped with amenities like Viking stoves and fine china, glass and silverware. These are perfect for when you are traveling with another couple or with family. Many have wonderful porches and outdoor patios.
There is no bad room here, but I like the May River Cottage Rooms over the ones on the lagoon. If you opt for a suite, ask for one on the River. Last visit I stayed in Village Home #1 and it was nothing short of magnificent. It overlooks the lagoon, has a wonderful library with fireplace, a formal dining room, three outside porches, a great kitchen and is spectacularly decorated.

The wine list, available throughout the property is extraordinary in its selections. Sadly, it is a very expensive one. Without actually counting, I would guess only 20% of the bottles are under $100.
